Professor Irmy Schweiger of Stockholm University presents: China Studies and the Representation of Chinese Culture in Germany and the Nordic Countries

 The Centre has invited Professor Dr. Irmy Schweiger, Professor of Chinese Studies and Deputy Head of the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies of Stockholm University, to deliver a public lecture.

About Professor Dr. Irmy Schweiger

Professor Dr. Irmy Schweiger is Professor of Chinese Studies and Deputy Head of the Department of Asian, Middle Eastern and Turkish Studies. She has traveled extensively in China and Taiwan. She began her study of Chinese in Germany and later in Taipei, Beijing and Tianjin. She received her PhD in Chinese at the Institute for Chinese Studies at Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, Germany and has taught at various institutions in Germany and Sweden, such as Heidelberg, Göttingen and Stockholm. She has a wide range of research interests which include trauma and cultural memory in literature, women studies, cultural dynamics in Sinophone writings, and intercultural communication.
