Introduction:
Hope is a mediator between present and future. It is a discursive construct that empowers people and guides them on what to do to achieve the desired future. In 2019, the mass protests in Hong Kong broke the five-year-long movement abeyance by passion and solidarity. They explore new dimensions to re-examine the politics and society of this city. With the theme “the politics of hope?”, speakers of this seminar will disseminate their view and analysis to what extent hope can articulate the present and future of Hong Kong.
