Professor Tak-Wing Ngo of Political Science of University of Macau presents: Making Sense of the Greater Bay Area: Scalar Politics in Perspective (僅限英文版)

In the past several decades, China has been continuously re-territorizing its subnational political geographies and rescaling its locational hierarchies. Zoning occurs throughout the country at all levels of administration. Is the Greater Bay Area simply one of these frequent exercises? What interests will be affected inside and outside the Greater Bay Area? If we put aside the developmental rhetoric, how should we make sense of the Greater Bay Area? This presentation will explore these questions from the perspective of scalar politics.
